Coastal Rescue Record
Every water rescue on the Carolina coast, in one place
A continuously updated record of water rescues, searches and drownings on the North and South Carolina coast — the ocean, beaches, sounds, inlets and the Intracoastal Waterway, from Currituck to Hilton Head.
Entries are compiled automatically from Coast Guard district releases, National Park Service reports, National Weather Service advisories and regional newsrooms, then grouped so that follow-up coverage of a single event appears as one record rather than several. Every entry links to the sources it was built from, and outcomes that agencies haven’t confirmed are marked as unconfirmed rather than hidden.
It exists because newsrooms report drownings and rarely report saves. The Coast Guard feeds alone carry dozens of offshore rescues that no one wrote up.
